Parent / Teacher Conferences
Many school district around the nation are getting ready for Parent / Teacher conferences. These conferences should be positive in nature and look for solutions rather than placing blame. Be prepared. Teachers should bring data, work samples and other documention to the meeting to give parents a tangible look at their child's progress. Discuss solutions and next steps rather than harp on past failures. The conference should not be one-sided. Teachers should take the opportuity to learn more about their student from the parents on the child. Listen to their concerns and come up with a strategic plan to best address the learning needs of the student.
