The Flipped Faculty Meeting
Educational Leaders often stand up in front of their staff and preach to them about utilizing the latest and greatest technology to enhance student learning. I am a profound proponent in this concept and applaud all educators using innovative techniques and technology to reach students. However, I am tired of listening to educational leaders not practicing what they preach. The flipped classroom is a powerful newish concepts. This format allows more time for students to master the concept in class with the content expert (the teacher) in the room. How often have you seen a flipped faculty meeting? Let's face it. Most faculty meetings are a boring laundry list of items that could have been sent to everyone in an email. The real work never gets completed. The real conversations never happen. Let's flip it. Let's practice what we preach and put the focus on what needs attention, not adhering to antiquated protocols.
